Kazakhstan Lifts State Price Regulation on Medicines Priced Below 1 MRP
Under Kazakhstan Health Ministry Order No. 105 of 4 September 2026, medicines priced up to 1 MRP (4,325 tenge) moved to market pricing, cutting the regulated list from 3,039 to 1,827 positions.

As part of its phased deregulation of medicine prices, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health has removed medicines priced up to one monthly calculation index (MRP) from state price regulation. In 2026, 1 MRP equals 4,325 tenge. The change was introduced by Order of the Minister of Health No. 105 dated 4 September 2026 and took effect on 21 September 2026.
Under the updated list, the number of medicines subject to state price regulation fell from 3,039 to 1,827 positions, meaning more than 1,200 medicine names have moved to market-based pricing. For these products, prices will now be set by market participants according to supply and demand. The Ministry said regulation is becoming more targeted, concentrating on medicines that need additional protection to remain affordable.
Deregulation comes with tighter market monitoring: the Ministry of Health and the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition are developing price monitoring mechanisms based on the medicine marking and traceability system. According to the Ministry, about 1.1 billion medicine packages have passed through the system since July 2024, and citizens can report excessive prices via the DariKZ mobile app.
For exporters and distributors supplying Kazakhstan, checking whether a product remains on the updated regulated list is now the first step of any pricing strategy. At CSC we are tracking our Kazakhstan portfolio against these changes and continue to work with partners through a GDP-compliant supply chain.
