Drug Tracking System (İTS): End-to-End Traceability with 2D Codes
In Turkey every medicine pack is tracked via a data-matrix code. Warehouses, pharmacies and exporters must register with İTS and report movements.
The Drug Tracking System (İTS) is Turkey's national system that tracks the supply and distribution of human medicines using data-matrix (2D barcode) technology. Every medicine pack is serialized with a unique code and each of its movements is recorded from production to the patient.
Under the relevant regulation, all stakeholders in the supply chain — pharmaceutical warehouses, pharmacies, licence-holder companies, export-authorized companies and reimbursement institutions — must register with İTS and report product movements to the system.
This traceability is critical for fighting counterfeit medicines, managing recalls and controlling expiry dates. At CSC, we complete İTS notifications and lot-based tracking for all of our shipments.
